Locavore

From Envirowiki

Jump to: navigation, search
locavore (sometimes localvore), is an ethical consumption position. It stems from the word "local" and the previx "-vore" (feeding), and refers to a person who eats only local foods. The most common reason for this stance is to avoid the excess environmental impact of food miles, and it can also help to reduce the use of packaging. Other reasons include supporting local growers, and having fresher, nicer food, as well as a variety of social reasons[1].
